The story of this wine
The den wines are social wines to be enjoyed with friends and family. These wines are named for the den, the heart of all African wild dog communities. Flavour-packed, soft and juicy comfort wines for every day drinking.
Jenny Metelerkamp produced a fine Painted Wolf ink drawing for the label.
Tasting notes
A classy medium to full-bodied wine with typical Cab flavours of black currant, brambly fruit, cigar box augmented by toasty oak. The wine has a lovely rich mid-mouth texture, a long, fruit-driven finish with fresh acid and ripe tannins
Food suggestions
Enjoy with a variety of meat dishes like home-made lamb burgers, sticky roast pork belly or braised lamb shanks.
The vineyard
Cabernet Sauvignon is mostly sourced from the Bottleray and Heldeberg areas of Stellenbosch. It is finished with 12% Merlot.
Winemaking
Fermented with Bordeaux yeast strains in tank with French oak staves, and then completed malolactic fermentation and maturation on staves.
Ageing potential
This wine will age nicely and can be drunk up to four years from vintage.
