Wine and Gourmet Japan, Emma goes East
Emma will be pouring our wines at Wine and Gourmet Japan 2015 between 15 and 17 April. She will be joined by our Japanese translator, pack member and all round indispensable person, Kozue and the MD of our importer, HomboShoten, who will both be helping to present our wines. We are very excited about increasing the number of Painted Wolf Wine fans in the country for a second year running. It’s also a great opportunity to spread the word about African Wildlife conservation to Japan!
In addition to presenting a platform at the Show, the Wine and Gourmet Japan team has set up a number of extra events for exhibitors. Emma will be taking part in their inaugural “Night of Wines”, an exclusive evening networking event in which international wine producers will be introduced to Japan’s wine professionals in one of Tokyo’s most exclusive venues: the Rainbow Terrace Room at Hotel Nikko, Tokyo.
Modeled on an elegant cruise-ship suite, this seaside banquet room offers sweeping views of the Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Sky Tree and other Tokyo landmarks. Let’s hope Emma gets a moment or two to enjoy the views before the networking begins.
Wine Kingdom, Japan’s most influential wine magazine, organizes the annual Wine Pairing Program at Wine and Gourmet Japan. We have entered this competition and our wines will be paired and matched with Japanese cuisine. Jeremy worked out our own, very South African food and wine pairings which will hopefully show that our wines are versatile and delicious with just about any food.
The exhibition also features several competitions for exhibitors. We have entered quite a few. We are hoping that our labels will impress in the Label design competition.
We have also entered the label design contest. This is a contest in which the expo visitors decide which label has the most outstanding design. Labels are judged in three categories: “Best Label”, “Women’s Choice Award” and “Men’s Choice Award”. We are holding thumbs that our quirky, scribbly wild dogs appeal to the show visitors and earn us an accolade.
Last year, the label design winners were posted on the Wine and Gourment Japan facebook page. We will be on the look out there too.
