Roussanne and wild dogs
wild dogs, wine
Our Black Pack Roussanne won a silver medal that the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Awards 2015. Jeremy has used this grape as a fantastic addition to our white blends, a traditional use for this particular varietal, but has also ventured into presenting it as a single varietal, which is less common. Roussanne as a single varietal is quite difficult to find for several reasons. It is a bit of a diva in the vineyard, and because the vines are erratic producers it is used as a supporting wine in blends where it is a super star.
Roussanne has a lot in common with wild dogs.
It teetered on the brink of extinction, it is named for its colouring and we love it.
