JOHANNESBURG – Who let the Dogs in?

February 6, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 11:00 pm

In September 2017, the Kruger National Park’s resident population of 250 of the most Endangered carnivore in the country was bolstered by the addition of eight new African Wild Dogs. Working with Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife (EKZNW), South African National Parks (SANParks), and WildlifeACT Fund, the EWT introduced this new pack of eight Wild Dogs into the northern region of the Kruger National Park as part of a project that is heralded as a first for the Kruger National Park and a major victory for Wild Dog conservation.

Please join Grant Beverley, Kruger Wild Dog Project and Lowveld Regional Carnivore Coordinator, at the first talk for the year as he sheds light on why this reintroduction was necessary and how it unfolded, and shares some of the adventures these incredible animals have undertaken since they were released into their new home.

Grant Beverley has a Diploma in Nature Conservation from the Tshwane University of Technology and completed a year’s practical training/internship at Scientific Services in the Kruger National Park, where he assisted with various research projects. His work with the EWT has seen him return to the Kruger National Park, where his key responsibilities include collaring and monitoring African Wild Dogs, developing and managing a photographic identification database, data collection and management, running citizen science campaigns, and liaising with tourists and park officials to obtain sighting data.

Amanda will have a selection of our wine at the event for tasting.
