The story of this wine
At Painted Wolf Wines, we celebrate and help conserve the endangered African wild dog, our most charismatic predator. Wild dogs and cyclists have much in common: individual prowess, teamwork, energy, camaraderie and a never give-up attitude. Jeremy is an enthusiastic cyclist, and has used this passion as an additional way to raise funds for conservation. He has organised rides through some of the remaining pockets of wilderness inhabited by wild dogs as well as sponsoring major cycling events like the Tour de Tuli, which benefits the Children in the Wilderness charity.
A lively, spicy Cape Blend with a full rich mouth feel and a velvety long finish.
This finessed red will partner well with modern fusion cooking. The wine is best paired with Beef or lamb dishes such as Thai style red beef curry or a nice South African lamb bobotie.
Sourced from our pack members vineyards in Paarl, Stellenbosch and the Swartland.
The grapes were hand picked and crushed into small open fermenters hand punched 4 to 5 times daily during fermentation and pressed when just dry.
This wine will improve with a few years of bottle age.
A social wine to be enjoyed with friends and family. Named for THE DEN, the heart of the Wild Dog community. Flavour packed, soft and juicy comfort wines for every day drinking.
A pack of Wild Dogs and a pack of cyclists share the same goal. Whether it is food for the pack or the end of a long road, what remains is the bond between pack members and the ability to unwind and enjoy the company. Company made all the more enjoyable by sharing a good wine, a love of wide open spaces and the Wild Dogs who roam them.
High quality wines carefully hand crafted from our 3 Pack members’ grapes including a number of single vineyard wines named after the vineyard owners.
Named after Lycaon Pictus, the scientific name for Painted Wolf. Each edition of this deluxe Rhone style blend is as rare and beautiful as the Wild Dogs we support. Each year we choose a painting from one of our pack artists to feature on the label and each year we match estimated Wild Dog numbers with the number of bottle we produce. In most cases, the original painting is sold at auction with proceeds donated to wild dog research and conservation.
